More than two years after Robinhood, one of the most popular trading service providers for retail clients, banned ''meme stocks'' trading in the midst of a speculative frenzy, the company has once again found itself under retail investors'' criticism. This time, traders are complaining about the alleged inability to realize profits from their bets placed against the collapsed Silicon Valley Bank ( SVB ) and Signature Bank (SB). Robinhood Users Cannot Cash Out Their Bets Against SVB The controversy centers around put options, which allow investors to bet on the decline of a share''s value. If the share value falls, the investor can sell it at a higher price than the current market value, thereby earning a profit. Another option is to sell the contract back to another market participant who believes that the price may fall further. Some of Robinhood''s clients purchased put options just before SVB and SB collapsed last week , and correctly predicted the market''s future. However, they are allegedly facing issues with collecting their due profits.

Best Buy Co Inc shot up 12.78% as the best performing stock on the S&P 500 index, after the retailer forecast a smaller drop in annual sales than previously announced and expressed confidence a ramp up in deals and discounts will entice more customers. The gains in Best Buy helped boost the S&P 500 retail index 1.21%. AMTD IDEA (NYSE: AMTD ) stock is chest-deep into one of its strongest trading days ever. The company is up nearly 300% today, adding to an already lucrative week for the Hong Kong-based investment firm. Strangely, analysts and investors can’t seem to pin down a reason behind the jump. AMTD IDEA is Wall Street’s latest hot commodity since the July 15 listing of its subsidiary, AMTD Digital (NYSE: HKD ), on the New York Stock Exchange . The Korean financial conglomerate has been cashing in on the substantial investor interest in AMTD digital since its stock doubled in price on its initial public offering (IPO) date. Indeed, the company has seen its share price go on something of a roller coaster the past few weeks as investors rally around both AMTD Digital and AMTD Idea. From just $1.60 per share Monday, AMTD stock trading close to $8.50 at one point on Tuesday afternoon. Meanwhile, HKD tsock has been on something of a meteoric rise since its IPO. Currently, the company’s shares are up more than 250% for the day, trading at $2,100 per share.

AMTD Idea (NYSE: AMTD ) and AMTD Digital (NYSE: HKD ) are both jumping in pre-market trading today, with AMTD stock soaring more than 400% to $11.61 at one point and HKD stock advancing 14.6% to $799. Hong Kong-based AMTD Idea is an investment bank , while its subsidiary, AMTD Digital, has created digital tools that perform functions related to financial services. One of AMTD Digital’s tools, AMTD SpiderNet , is being labeled by some as a metaverse. InvestorPlace contributor Dana Blankenhorn reported that SpiderNet seeks “to connect all AMTD’s financial operations and intellectual property into a controlled digital ecosystem.” Since AMTD Digital launched its initial public offering (IPO) on July 15, HKD stock has been one of the top movers in the market, rocketing from $27.80 on July 18 to $742 yesterday. AMTD Idea’s shares have previously undergone some volatility as well in recent weeks. On July 22, AMTD stock rallied more than 100%, climbing to $2.20 from its close of $1.08 on the previous trading day.
