Two banking stocks endorsed by Barclays analyst Aman Rakkar 2022/10/17 13:37:52 TipRanks
To curb soaring inflation, the central banks are pushing interest rates globally: which is good news for banks. British-listed banking giants NatWest Group (GB:NWG) and HSBC Holdings (GB:HSBA) are right in the centre of this wave. These stocks have a wide coverage from analysts, and Barclays analyst Aman Rakkar is highly bullish on these stocks. Rakkar is a Director at Barclays’ banks equity research team and covers the UK and Irish banks. He also has experience in rating European banks’ stocks. Rakkar was also part of the top UK analysts of 2020, ranked by TipRanks.
Noland: "Dominoes Are Aligning For A Major Synchronized Global Crisis" 2022/10/17 11:20:00 Zero Hedge
Noland: "Dominoes Are Aligning For A Major Synchronized Global Crisis" Excerpted from Doug Noland''s Credit Bubble Bulletin, It would have been a nonevent; inconsequential. Confirming New Cycle Dynamics, the Truss government’s “mini budget” has unleashed absolute mayhem. Pension funds blowing up. Emergency central bank rescue operations. Global market instability. UK’s Treasury Secretary sacrificed after a mere 38 days, while an entire government hangs in the balance. Friday evening Financial Times headlines: “Gilts in Fresh Slide as Investors Say Truss U-turn Did Not Go Far Enough.” “Can Liz Truss Survive as UK Prime Minister?”; “Austerity Beckons as Truss Seeks to Restore Britain’s Reputation with Investors.” And “UK Debacle Shows Central Bank ‘Tough Love’ is Here to Stay.” The world has changed right before our eyes. It has been one of my favored rhetorical questions for the past couple decades: Is “money” (monetary inflation) the solution or the problem? The answer is obvious – has been for some time, and I’ll assume central bankers have accepted the harsh reality.

Why did Barclays revoke my unused overdraft? 2022/07/07 06:00:39 The Guardian
It told me it would have a negative impact on my credit rating Barclays recently sent me a letter advising it will be revoking my agreed overdraft, unless I instructed it otherwise, as I have not used it in 12 months. I informed them that I wished to keep it for peace of mind, but was told by a call centre agent that the decision could not be overturned and that an unused overdraft would negatively affect my credit rating. This £300 overdraft limit has been in place since 2008 when I was earning the minimum wage and has never once been used. During that time, my earnings have increased and I have been approved for a mortgage and various loans and credit cards. So is having an unused overdraft really detrimental to my creditworthiness? ES, Surbiton, Surrey You wouldn’t think so, and credit reference agency Experian confirmed that it does not include overdrafts in its credit scoring process. The personal finance advice websites I checked only mentioned the risks of maxing out an overdraft.

The declining economy, tighter funding conditions and higher aversion to risks were the reasons that sparked concern in the financial sector. If you remember correctly, it was over-lending by banks to homeowners that caused the US housing bubble, which, in turn, led to the 2008 financial recession. The proportion of lenders intending to limit home loans reached its highest level since the first lockdown, the Bank of England said.
