Dell’s XPS 13 Plus gets 13th Gen Intel processors  2023/05/04 18:25:03 The Verge
Are you a Platinum person or a Graphite person? | Image: Dell Dell has refreshed what might be its boldest and funkiest laptop, the XPS 13 Plus. The new model looks quite similar to the product released last year ; the flat keyboard, LED function row, and invisible haptic touchpad remain. But inside, the new model is powered by Intel’s 13th Gen Core processors — specifically, from what I can see on Dell’s website, the Core i7-1360P. Honestly, the processor is probably what most needed changing. The XPS 13 Plus I reviewed in 2022 was a nice-looking, well-built machine with a great screen, but it was hot and loud with subpar battery life. Those are big issues for a thin and light laptop, but they’re also issues that a better processor could potentially fix. Image: Dell You have to find the touchpad based on vibes. The 2023 XPS 13 Plus will still use Intel’s P-series, the somewhat confusing chip family that sits between the ultra-efficient U-series and the heavy-hitting H-series. However, Intel has made an important change to the 13th Gen P-series that might work in the XPS 13 Plus’ favor.

Microsoft Joins With Rivals To Try And Unseat Amazon''s Dominance In Government Cloud Computing Contracts  2022/07/28 18:20:00 Zero Hedge
Microsoft Joins With Rivals To Try And Unseat Amazon''s Dominance In Government Cloud Computing Contracts As the old saying goes: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Putting this into action, Microsoft has been making nice with its competitors like Google and Oracle in order to try and get the U.S. government to stop exclusively using Amazon for many of its cloud computing contracts. Microsoft "has issued talking points to other cloud companies aimed at jointly lobbying Washington to require major government projects to use more than one cloud service", the Wall Street Journal reported this week. It has also sought help from names like VMWare, Dell and HP, so far not asking Amazon to join the group. As of now, Amazon has about 39% of the global cloud market, the report notes. Microsoft comes in at 21%. But when it comes to government work, Amazon truly dominates, with a 47% share of the 2021 U.S. and Canada public-sector market order, the report says. For example, the NSA selected Amazon last year for a contract worth as much as $10 billion, the report says.
