OLONGAPO CITY ---- Two elderly residents here have died of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), while 12 new cases were also recorded on Tuesday. Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said one of the fatalities was a 69-year-old man who tested positive for the virus on Sept. 24. Five of his family members also contracted the virus, but they have already recovered. The other fatality was a 60-year-old man who died three days after his real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test yielded a positive result. The city now has a total of 535 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 290 recoveries. There are still 222 active patients, while 23 have died. BACOLOD CITY ---- At least 12 new COVID-19 fatalities were recorded in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental on Tuesday. The Department of Health said Bacolod City had 10 new deaths, bringing its death toll to 61. Negros Occidental, on the other hand, has two new COVID deaths on Tuesday. The province now has 36 fatalities. Bacolod also has the most number of COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas with 3,419. Negros Occidental had 2,582 cases. BAGUIO CITY ---- A village chief in Bangued, Abra was stabbed to death days after he was released from detention, police said. A manhunt was launched against the five unidentified assailants who killed Claudio Bobias of Barangay Lingtan on Sunday night. Bobias suffered multiple stab wounds during the attack in front of a store around 6 p.m. The victim was taken to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. ROXAS, Isabela ---- A farmer and his partner were killed while two others were injured after their motorcycles collided here on Thursday night, police said. Arnold Managuelod, 29, and Angelica Nava, 33, sustained multiple head and body injuries due to the impact, causing their instant deaths.
