Anonymous calls to police this summer warned of ex-Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh's behavior — including threats to hurt himself — and he was transported to a hospital in June  2020/12/10 00:43:17 Business Insider
Summary List Placement Newly-obtained emergency call logs help fill out the last months of Tony Hsieh's life in Park City, Utah, where the tech entrepreneur had relocated during this summer amid the pandemic, surrounding by a gaggle of new associates and hosting a succession of parties. On at least two occasions, Hsieh's behavior became so concerning — including breaking things in his house and threatening to hurt himself during an August incident, according to the logs— that emergency personnel were called. Hsieh died November 27 in Connecticut following injuries he sustained in a house fire more than a week prior. His death, ruled an accident, followed a chaotic year that included his abrupt August departure as Zappos CEO after 21 years. In his final months, Hsieh relocated from Las Vegas to Park City, where he snapped up millions of dollars of residential homes, became fascinated with fire, and inhaled nitrous oxide, as Business Insider and others reported in the last week. Call records to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, which handles dispatch for Park City, show a number of calls from friends and neighbors over the summer.

How Utah cities are pursuing 100% renewable energy  2020/11/20 09:00:00 GreenBiz
How Utah cities are pursuing 100% renewable energy Emily Elizabet… Fri, 11/20/2020 - 01:00 In the absence of federal action on climate change in the United States, local communities have taken on the responsibility of reducing their greenhouse emissions. To date, more than 150 cities, counties and states across America have passed resolutions to commit to 100 percent net-renewable electricity in the coming years, defined as meeting the city’s total electricity demand with the gross amount of electricity generated and purchased from renewable sources, such as solar, wind and geothermal as well as energy efficiency, demand management and energy storage. Six cities already have achieved this goal: Kodiak Island, Alaska; Aspen, Colorado; Georgetown, Texas; Greensburg, Kansas; Rock Port, Missouri; and Burlington, Vermont. In Utah, 23 cities and counties have resolved to adopt 100 percent net-renewable electricity by 2030, representing about 37 percent of Utah’s electricity load. How did a politically conservative, coal-dependent state such as Utah achieve such a commitment?
