Pharma major Cipla on Tuesday said its board has approved the re-appointment of Umang Vohra as the Managing Director and Global CEO of the company for a further period of five years. The board of directors has considered and approved the re-appointment of Umang Vohra, Managing Director, designated as 'Managing Director and Global Chief Executive Officer' of the company, for a further period of five years w.e.f. April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2026, Cipla said in a regulatory filing. Vohra had joined Cipla in 2015 and has been the MD & Global CEO of the company since September 1, 2016, it added. "As Cipla's MD & GCEO, Vohra's priorities have been Cipla's strategic growth, defining and executing Cipla's roadmap to maintain momentum in home markets whilst strengthening its presence in other regions, consolidating its core focus areas, augmenting capability, and building the right organisation," the filing said. Billionaire Radhakishan Damani’s retail chain DMart has bought two floors spread over 39,000 sq ft in realty developer Wadhwa Group’s under-construction project, The Epicenter, in the Chembur suburbs of Mumbai for more than Rs 113 crore.Avenue Supermarts, the company that formally owns the retail chain, has paid stamp duty charges worth Rs 2.26 crore for the transaction concluded recently.Along with this retail space on the ground and first floors of the project, Avenue Supermarts will also get access to 78 car parking slots, showed the agreement accessed by ET.The deal stands out because the usual industry practice is to lease retail spaces.The project is being developed on a two-acre land parcel that was acquired from beverage and consumer goods firm PepsiCo India. The plot earlier housed a factory that was used for manufacturing Duke’s beverages apart from PepsiCo’s other soft drink brands and was not operational since 2014.The Wadhwa Group is jointly developing a mixed-used project with South India-based developer Salarpuria Sattva Group on this plot.Both have recently launched a new project, Dukes Horizon, alongside a commercial project, The Epicentre, on the same plot.

The PepsiCo Foundation on Thursday said it has helped 27 million people gain access to safe water since 2006 in India.Globally, the foundation has helped more than 55 million people gain access to safe water in the same period, out of which, 50 per cent beneficiaries are from India, it said in a statement.PespsiCo Foundation, established in 1962 is the philanthropic arm of PespsiCo.“As part of its 'Winning with Purpose' vision, PepsiCo through its foundation has actively been working towards bringing sustainable safe water access to underserved communities," PepsiCo India President Ahmed ElSheikh said.In India specifically, PepsiCo has been helping communities to effectively conserve, manage and distribute water for more than a decade through innovative practices like direct seeding, drip irrigation, and community water recharge interventions, he said.PepsiCo India is also fully aligned to the government's 'Jal Jeevan Mission' and the company's philanthropic arm has committed an additional USD 3 million last year towards positively impacting another 2,00,000 farming communities in West Bengal and Maharashtra through sustainable safe water access interventions, he added.
