Swiss banking giant UBS latest to pour FUD on crypto  2021/07/05 14:00:00 Crypto Daily
Even as some banking institutions are taking advantage of the gains to be made in crypto, many are continuing to try and squash it, perhaps afraid of this emerging and innovative sector. UBS is the latest in a long line of banks warning their clients to stay clear of crypto. Crypto is in a bubble, unsuitable for professional investors, and regulators across the world are gunning for it, warns the Swiss banking giant UBS. The negative headlines on crypto are rolling out thick and fast. According to an article on Markets Insider today, the UBS Growth Management Team sent a note to clients stating that the Chinese crack-down on bitcoin mining, and on cryptocurrencies in general, had hurt crypto prices and operators. The note warned of tougher rules that could be coming for crypto, especially in Western markets such as the US and the UK. "Regulators have demonstrated they can and will crack down on crypto, so we suggest investors stay clear, and build their portfolio around less risky assets." Perhaps those less risky assets will be among those in the portfolios of banks like the UBS.

Sell Purplebricks says UBS as it may be losing share to rival Strike  2021/06/15 10:38:00 Proactive Investors UK
Purplebricks PLC (LON:PURP) shares were reiterated as a sell by UBS as data shows a fall in listing on property portals. The Swiss bank cut its price target for the shares to 78p from 85p before as it trimmed its forecasts for the 2022 financial year after data suggested that between January and May this year the total number of listings in the UK market fell by a quarter. While Purplebricks reported a surge in customers late last year, fresh data seen by UBS shows its market share of sold listings also dropped 40 basis points to 4.5%, and unsold listings by 60bps to 3.1%. Whats more, Strike a free online estate agent rival of Purplebricks (formerly Housesimple.com), has increased its market share by 20 basis points, UBS noted, with the number of listings excluding subject-to-contract SCT remaining broadly flat at circa 2,000. UBS analysts acknowledged that their Evidence Lab data may not match numbers reported by Purplebricks, with the company using an alternative data provider that defines the market more broadly than just listings on one property portal.

Buy these 16 stocks with more than 10% upside that are set to increase dividend payments for years to come, UBS says  2021/04/18 10:30:00 Business Insider
Summary List Placement While fourth-quarter earnings in 2020 set the bar pretty high, the first-quarter season got off to a good start as big Wall Street banks crushed analyst estimates. JPMorgan surprised analysts by reporting $33.1 billion in revenue, which exceeded the $30.4 billion estimate. Goldman Sachs also beat average analyst estimates by posting $17.7 billion in revenue versus the expected $12.6 billion. Citi came in strong as well. These results, as well as strong economic data, helped US equity indexes jump to record levels. And while many publicly traded companies have still not filed their first-quarter earnings, investors are confident that they will deliver superior results that could ultimately lead to nice dividend payouts. According to FactSet, the S&P 500 is expected to report year-over-year earnings growth of 24.5% for the first quarter, which is about 1.6 percentage points above the highest year-over-year rate ever reported by the index. When companies enjoy a steady flow of earnings, they might choose to raise their cash levels, buy back shares, reinvest in the business, or distribute to shareholders.

If working conditions stay as they are, about a quarter of young bankers said they were more likely to leave their current employer in the next six months than to stay, according to a survey of 475 participants by Wall Street Oasis, a popular online forum for financial professionals. While Wall Street Oasis did not verify respondents' employment in this inaugural survey, the new data constitutes what is likely the most comprehensive picture available of Wall Street's growing burnout problem since the pandemic began. First-year analysts are struggling to adjust to the learning curve remotely, but second-years said they preferred working from home. Dissatisfaction and burnout, though, were rife at all levels regardless of preference. 37% of respondents have averaged five hours of sleep or less per night in 2021, 32% said they feel they have been victims of workplace abuse, and 84% said their work hours have negatively affected relationships with family and friends.
