Regional Banks Showing Signs Of Recovery As Stocks Rebound  2023/06/09 21:29:11 Benzinga
Regional banks are among the most beaten-down sub-industries at the moment, as those stocks remain mired at the bottom of the pack. However, plenty of investors make the mistake of missing rallies because they''re anchored to the idea that specific sectors, or even the market as a whole, remain in the doldrums. Over the past few weeks, the charts of regional banks, including Zions Bancorporation NA (NASDAQ: ZION ) , Comerica Inc. (NYSE: CMA ) and KeyCorp (NYSE: KEY ) , are showing a familiar trend: Stocks that were crushed for one reason or another eventually show renewed price strength. All three are among the smallest weightings within the S&P 500 index but were the biggest gainers in the financials sector recently. They were also among the biggest gainers in the broader S&P 500. Risk Remains Despite The Gains There''s still risk in regional banks. Some industry analysts believe that if interest rates rise again this year, some banks may be forced to slash the value of assets on their balance sheets.

   7 Bank Stocks I Wouldn’t Touch With a 10-Foot Pole  2023/05/26 10:15:18 InvestorPlace
Not all bank stocks are bad ones. Finding some gems out there is certainly possible, but I won’t be beating down the bushes looking for opportunities in the banking sector. These days there’s more to dislike about bank stocks than there is to appreciate them. Regional bank stocks are depressed because of the Silicon Valley Bank failure . That exposed some other weaknesses in the sector and made regional bank stocks a losing bet. But there are other reasons to give bank stocks the side eye right now. Banks are heavily reliant on the economy. They need people to have confidence in the economy and be willing to spend and borrow. Yes, credit card debt continues to rise, and the American consumer is resilient. You also can’t ignore the debt ceiling debate in Washington and be concerned about how the U.S. defaulting on its obligations would be disastrous. Besides what it would do to the stock market, such a downturn would surely hurt credit quality and trigger more defaults. That would hurt bank stocks and their bottom lines.
US stocks closed lower, Dow Jones down 0.69%  2023/05/24 02:18:28 InstaForex
At the close of the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones fell 0.69%, the S&P 500 fell 1.12%, and the NASDAQ Composite fell 1.26%. Traders continue to monitor the situation around the US government debt. President Joe Biden met with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Monday. According to the President, the meeting reaffirmed that the possibility of a default is not considered, and it is necessary to move towards a bipartisan agreement. Despite this, investors are worried about the approaching June 1, the date when, according to the forecasts of the US Treasury, the country could default. Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX) was the top performer among the components of the Dow Jones index today, gaining 4.41 points or 2.89% to close at 156.85. Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD) rose 4.28 points or 1.47% to close at 294.94. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) rose 0.41 points or 1.31% to close at 31.60. The least gainers were Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:V), which shed 6.70 points or 2.90% to end the session at 224.58.

Our nation''s capital throughout history - Jerusalem  2022/05/30 05:52:00 Arutz Sheva (Israel National News)
Jerusalem and the Jewish people are so intertwined that telling the history of one is telling the history of the other. For more than 3,000 years, Jerusalem has played a central role in the history of the Jews, culturally, politically, and spiritually, a role first documented in the Scriptures. All through the 2,000 years of the diaspora, Jews have called Jerusalem their ancestral home. This sharply contrasts the relationship between Jerusalem and the new Islamists who artificially inflate Islam''s links to Jerusalem. The Arab rulers who controlled Jerusalem through the 1950s and 1960s demonstrated no religious tolerance in a city that gave birth to two major Western religions. That changed after the Six-Day War in 1967, when Israel regained control of the whole city. Symbolically, one of Israel''s first steps was to officially recognize and respect all religious interests in Jerusalem. But the war for control of Jerusalem and its religious sites is not over. Palestinian Arab terrorism has targeted Jerusalem particularly in an attempt to regain control of the city from Israel.
