The CEO of $135 million DevOps startup Transposit says the firm is now taking on giants like ServiceNow and Atlassian because IT management is 'broken'  2020/11/12 14:35:00 Business Insider
Summary List Placement Four-year-old DevOps startup Transposit has expanded its focus to dive into IT service management and take on companies like ServiceNow and Atlassian. Transposit launched in 2016 with a platform that made it easier for developers to manage integrations between multiple apps by weaving together application programming interfaces. Better known as APIs, they allow different software and services to exchange information and essentially "talk" to each other. Then, last year, it brought on a new CEO — Divanny Lamas, who is also a managing director at Sutter Hill Ventures — to lead a broadening of its mission: Transposit now offers a platform for engineering and IT teams to automate the work they do. It can help engineers collect data on their entire development process, analyze it for insights, and monitor how teams solve problems. Lamas sees this as an extension of the startup's original goal: "One of the things that gets me really excited is we're growing the company to be able to effectively take all those things that Transposit wanted to do and we're just simplifying and making it easier for people," she told Business Insider.

Atlassian just made a big push into IT service management with a new product to rival ServiceNow and Microsoft (TEAM)  2020/11/09 17:00:00 Business Insider
Summary List Placement The Australian software giant Atlassian launched a new product on Monday to help customers manage their entire software development process on one platform. The product, called Jira Service Management, is the biggest move Atlassian has made to-date to address IT service management, says Atlassian chief revenue officer Cameron Deatsch. The platform brings all the company's tools together, allowing developers to track the progress of their software projects and report incidents on the same platform. The product is an evolution of Atlassian 's previous IT service management, Jira Service Desk, but with added capabilities to manage incident tickets and code changes, as well as machine learning-based technology that can automatically assign people to solve issues. "As your development teams are making changes all the time, when you go in to solve a problem, understanding how those changes were made and correlating that with the customer experience is an incredibly powerful tool," Deatsch told Business Insider.

Summary List Placement These days it's hard to picture a stock market that isn't dominated by Big Tech. But two decades ago, who imagined a market where GE and Exxon were almost afterthoughts? The amount of money invested in Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Facebook today is staggering, as Goldman Sachs Chief US Equity Strategist David Kostin says the stock market hasn't been this top-heavy in 40 years. But it will change one day, and Kostin says people are hungry for the next big thing. "Investors are increasingly searching for fast-growing firms beyond the 'current five,'" he wrote. Finding those potential replacements starts with a focus on the incredible growth that made those five companies so successful. "The ability of these firms to grow sales rapidly regardless of the economic situation has been brought into focus by the corona crisis," he said. "Growth is particularly important with interest rates at the lower bound. " So Kostin and his team applied their " Rule of Ten " framework and sought companies that reported annual revenue growth of at least 10% in 2018 and 2019, and are expected to maintain that level in 2021 and 2022.
