AutoFi, based out of San Francisco, is reimagining the auto industry to be more transparent and customer-centric by enabling dealerships to allow their customers to go through the entire process online from any device. The customer can craft their own deal, see offers from multiple lenders and even digitally sign the contracts. After evaluating various stacks, AutoFi felt Node.js, Express.js and MongoDB was the stack that would fulfill the business needs in a meaningful way. They are a small team that believes in the power of "*-as-a-service", allowing them to focus on product and code not infrastructure and ops. Leveraging PaaS was an easy decision, but storing very sensitive personally identifying information (like SSN and credit reports) at the data level, called for a deeper dive into finding a service that could meet their needs.
