CAR T-cell therapies are life-saving treatments, but the side effects they produce have yet to be fully understood. The goal is minimize risks and maximize rewards for patients, using advanced data science. Medidata analyzed survival data from more than 1,500 CAR T-cell patients using Kaplan-Meier methods, revealing that only 2.45% per patient-year developed a second primary malignancy. While this number might seem alarming, the analysis shows the risk is on par with similar treatments such as stem cell transplants.
