3M™ Aluminum Foil Tape 425 combines a dead soft aluminum foil backing with a transparent acrylic adhesive to help reflect heat and light while protecting surfaces in demanding environments.
Demo summary
• A heat lamp is used to expose plastic boards to radiant heat from a distance of 5 cm.
• The demo compares an unprotected plastic board with boards covered using 3M™ Vinyl Tape 471, 3M™ Glass Cloth Tape 363, and 3M™ Aluminum Foil Tape 425.
• Each board is exposed to heat for 1 minute before the measured temperature and visible surface condition are compared.
Product highlights

• With 3M™ Glass Cloth Tape 363 applied, the measured temperature is 82.5°C.
• With 3M™ Aluminum Foil Tape 425 applied, the measured temperature is much lower at 31.2°C, and the board is protected from visible thermal damage in the demonstrated setup.
