AI agents are rewriting enterprise IT, and the old governance playbook of written policies cannot keep pace. In this video interview from the 2026 .NEXT event in Chicago, technology veteran Lynn Comp explains why autonomous AI agents that carry user credentials and make decisions without a human in the loop demand a new approach. Comp, vice president and global head of sales for the AI Center of Excellence at Intel, has navigated the dotcom boom, the mobile rollout and the rise of the internet. She calls the current AI wave the fastest and most heavily marketed transition she has witnessed, and it is creating a governance crisis most enterprise IT and legal teams have not addressed. The ownership question cuts to the heart of the problem. When an employee builds an AI agent that boosts their output, does the agent leave with them when they depart? The implied answer, that the company retains the agent, could undercut the incentive to build those tools on company time. Identity management poses a parallel challenge, since agents are not human and access control frameworks built for people do not map cleanly onto them. The governance gaps extend into law. The attorney-client privilege and the doctor-patient privilege do not apply to AI chatbots in the United States, and copyright protections do not extend to AI-generated content. Comp argues that AI governance must now be code, not policy. Intel IT offers a working model, including a common interface that lets engineers swap models and controlled rollouts of agent chaining technologies with trusted developers. This interview is essential viewing for IT leaders, security professionals and anyone responsible for enterprise AI strategy. #AIGovernance #AIAgents #EnterpriseAI #AISafety #AITrustAndSafety Find more stories and expert interviews at The Forecast https://www.nutanix.com/theforecastbynutanix 👉 Get Social LinkedIn ► https://www.linkedin.com/company/nutanix Instagram ► @nutanix X ► @nutanix
