Progressive candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed narrowly won the Michigan Senate Democratic primary against centrist Representative Haley Stevens. While it marks a victory for the political left, the race was much closer than polls suggested – indicating a close race in November against Republican candidate and former Representative Mike Rogers. Before the official race call, Natalie Kitroeff, one of the hosts of “The Daily,” spoke with a voter at Dr. El-Sayed’s election night watch party.
